Bathroom Trends

Which bathroom trends are ones you should invest in!

Trends tend to mean that the idea is short-lived, and when you decide to invest your money into custom cabinets you do not want your cabinets to look dated in a couple of years. In the end your main concern with your custom cabinets should always be the functionality. You need a bathroom that is designed and built with you and your family in mind. Well designed cabinets will keep your home organized, efficient and be able to handle your lifestyle!

Before taking a stab at trends, consider how well it well actually work for you and your space. For example, if you want a large freestanding tub versus a shower, consider your space and how much room you have to spare. If you don't have much you may want to rethink your layout. Showers take up less room, which allows you room for other things you may need such as storage. This is a great example of not following a trend just for the look.

With that being said, here are some bathroom trends that we have seen grow in the past few years in popularity but we also predict that they are here to stay for many years to come.

Taller Vanities
The industry standard was vanity cabinets at 30-32" in height. Now they have grown to become more accommodating at 34-36", which is the height of your kitchen counter. The new height is more reasonable and comfortable to the average user, except for the smallest member of your family.

Which of coarse they will grow into as the years quickly go by!

Custom Cabinets
With cabinetry, people have been moving away from the big-box store's pre-manufactured cabinets and investing into quality custom cabinets that will withstand the test of time and frequent abuse of everyday use. You can also alter your cabinets to be designed with your needs in mind.
Deeper drawers, pull-out shelves and bathroom accessories will make your guests feel comfortable using your space!
Toilet Heights
Taller toilets are becoming more prominent in new and remodeled bathrooms. Higher toilets offer more comfort to users of any age. Also a taller toilet will be more friendly as you age.

Separate the Toilets
Becoming more common in new construction homes, is having a hidden toilet in bathrooms. Separating the toilet by adding a half wall or a "water closet" adds extra privacy and still allows your bathroom to be functional. This is a great feature for master bathrooms or guest suites to allow couples or family members to use the bathroom at one time, relieving some of the chaos in morning schedules.
Lux Showers
With showers becoming the more popular choice in bathrooms today, we see that they are not just fiberglass anymore! Most are tiled, with frame-less doors and curb-less floor that add user comfort of any age group! Builtin benches and shelves are a must along with good lighting. Walk-in showers often times have a dual shower head feature or movable shower heads to offer more practical use.
