8 Tips to Double your Storage

More than we know, we have a lot more space that we do not account for. We always hear from our clients that they would like more storage space. Here are some awesome tips to maximize your current space!

Look at your space and locate your most inefficient areas, like your cluttered medicine cabinet, pantry or where your toss your cleaning supplies. It’s actually possible to make these areas function better! It is easy and cost friendly when you add gadgets or custom shelving. With these tips it is easy to go from a cluttered mess to efficiently organized.

Under Your Cabinets
If your space is small and you struggle with a lack of storage, a great solution is to utilize your toe kick area. Create pull out drawers that are perfect for flatware, baking pans and more. Even though the space is not large you would be surprised what you can store and how much room you can gain else where after relocating items.

You could also use your wall cabinets for under storage. Add a open shelf or better yet locate some of your items on you counter top under the cabinets, like your paper towel holder or knifes. This will open your counter space making your space feel larger.

The Sides

People often times forget to use the exposed sides of their cabinetry. It is easy to create a purpose for this area with open shelving, hooks or a towel bar. These options open up areas to store some items that are hard to store. When done right, you will create more space within your cabinets by storing some items outside of the cabinets.

Drawer Organizers

It is common to let the drawers run wild! An easy way to maximize your space is to use drawer organizers or inserts. If you have deeper drawers for instance use stack-able storage accessories to utilize more of the space.

Tray dividers will make your drawers user friendly and allow you to locate your items faster. These features come in various types and functions. Ask your designer what would be best for you!

Hang Pots And Pans
If your space allows, hang your pots and pans. By moving your cookware from the cabinets to hangers or hooks, you will maximize your cabinet storage and it will make your kitchen more user friendly. Pots and pans are commonly located in an area that is hard to look through. With them hanging you will have better access to your most frequently used items.
If this is not an option for your space, think of adding some pull out shelves or a Lazy Susan that will make it easier to access your cookware.

Open Plate Rack

Do you have room around your kitchen window? Install an open plate rack! A vertical plate rack will allow light to penetrate through and will open some critical storage in your cabinets.

Near your windows is a great place to install open shelving or shallow shelves on your cabinet ends. Perfect for glass ware or cooking books.

Add Pull-Out Shelves

This feature is genius! It is a great way to make your items in your base cabinets more accessible. Rather than bending down and reaching blindly into your cabinets, your shelving could pull out and reveal everything at once! Great for pantries, pot and pans, and cleaning supplies.

Behind Close Doors

Typically there is a small gap from the inside of the door to your shelves. With doors having a good amount of vertical height, why waste this space?

Add door storage with shelves, or hooks to create an area to store more cluttered items like spices, measuring cups, pot lids and more!

Under-shelf Baskets

If Pull-Out Shelves are not an option for you, use under-shelf brackets. This will maximize the storage space between your shelves.

These brackets attached under your shelves and can add more room to store coffee cups, serving ware or smaller items. This will double you storage!
